Issraa Elkogali Häggström

I am a Sudanese-Swedish creative professional working with mixed-media installations, film and writing. 2018 marked my return to the theatre as a producer and dramaturgical researcher with the launch of National Black Theatre of Sweden.

Since the start of my art and communication career in late 2003, my work has been shown in 14 countries around the world.  “In Search of Hip Hop“, my directorial debut film, won official selection at Rotterdam and Dubai film festivals in 2013.

I have six years of film festival programming experience with CinemAfrica Sweden and three years as contributing art/photography editor at Agave Magazine.

My latest film project was a collaboration with Sudanese American filmmakers who commissioned me to write the adaption of Tayeb Salih’s short story “A Handful of Dates”

I live in Stockholm, Sweden where I am raising a family with my husband and continuing to work in the culture sector.

``Always creative and sees the things so many miss. And a personality that shines too``
